Chemical & Resin Packaging Solutions
Material Protection for the Chemical & Resin Industry
In chemical and resin manufacturing, companies are not simply transporting raw materials from one point to another, they are managing volatility, protecting product integrity, and maintaining operational safety. Whether handling combustible powders, hygroscopic resins, or hazardous chemicals, packaging performance becomes a critical part of the manufacturing process itself.
Engineering the right industrial package starts with two non-negotiable priorities: reliable static dissipation and superior moisture barrier protection. If either one fails, the consequences can be severe. Static discharge can create ignition risks in environments containing combustible dust or flammable vapors, while moisture intrusion can cause resin clumping, degradation, contamination, and production downtime.
At Material Motion, we support chemical and resin manufacturers throughout North America, Central America, and the Caribbean Islands with industrial packaging designed specifically for demanding environments. Our portfolio includes UN-rated packaging systems, high-barrier liners, antistatic FIBCs, woven polypropylene bags, multi-wall paper bags, and specialty form-fit liners engineered for moisture-sensitive and hazardous products.
By leveraging a strategic logistics gateway and maintaining dedicated stock inventory for customers, Material Motion helps our customers keep operations stable and products moving efficiently across supply chains. From engineering resins and polymers to industrial powders and specialty chemicals, our packaging is designed to minimize risk while maximizing operational performance.
Hazard Mitigation & Static Control Engineering
How Do You Prevent Static Discharge in Chemical Packaging?
Managing combustible dust or flammable vapors is not only about containment, but also about grounding and electrostatic control. During filling, conveying, transport, and discharge, bulk packaging materials can generate dangerous static electricity through friction and particle movement.
Material Motion offers specialized Type C (Groundable) and Type D (Antistatic) Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers (FIBCs) specifically engineered to reduce electrostatic hazards in chemical environments.
Type C Groundable FIBC
Type C bulk bags incorporate interconnected conductive threads woven into the fabric of the bag. These conductive elements safely dissipate electrostatic charges when properly grounded during filling and discharge operations. This prevents spark generation that could ignite combustible atmospheres.
Type C FIBCs are manufactured from conductive fabric or non-conductive fabrics that are interwoven with conductive yarns that form a grid within the FIBC framework. These conductive elements safely dissipate electrostatic charges when properly grounded during filling and discharge operations. This prevents spark generation that could ignite combustible atmospheres.
Type D Antistatic FIBCs
Type D FIBCs are manufactured using non-conductive fabrics that are interwoven with quasi-conductive fibers. The interwoven fibers safely and effectively dissipate the static electrical charge into the surrounding environment through a low energy corona discharge without requiring direct grounding. These bags are engineered to safely neutralize static buildup while maintaining operational efficiency in facilities handling volatile powders and chemicals
Proper static control packaging helps manufacturers improve worker safety, reduce explosion risk, and maintain compliance with industry regulations.

Solutions for Overcoming Chemical Packaging Friction Points
The Clumping Problem: Engineered Moisture Barriers
Many industrial resins and chemical powders are hygroscopic, meaning they absorb moisture directly from the surrounding environment. Once exposed to humidity, these products can lose flowability, cake together, or develop hard clumps that disrupt processing.
This creates major challenges for:
- Automated feeding systems
- Pneumatic conveying systems
- Resin drying operations
- Blending applications
- Precision batching systems
To combat moisture intrusion, Material Motion engineers with our manufacturing partners high-performance barrier liners designed to create a hermetic seal around sensitive product. Our form-fit liners utilize advanced co-extruded PE structures, EVOH barriers, or foil laminations depending on the application requirements.
These barrier systems help preserve product flowability, maintain product purity, reduce scrap rates, prevent feeder jams, extend storage life, and protects oxygen-sensitive materials
For engineering resins such as Nylon, Polycarbonate (PC), PET, and specialty compounds, moisture protection is essential to maintaining product performance and end-use quality.
Preventing “Bag Blow-Outs” with 6:1 Safety Factors
High-density chemicals place significant stress on bag seams and lifting components during transport, warehousing, and stacking. Standard industrial bulk bags commonly utilize a 5:1 safety factor, but hazardous-duty applications often require a more robust engineering standard.
Material Motion specifies 6:1 Safety Factor FIBCs for demanding chemical applications where additional durability and safety are required. This enhanced safety factor helps prevent seam failures, bottom panel ruptures, lifting loop separation, product spills, warehouse contamination, and employee exposure incidents.
These higher-performance bags are particularly beneficial for:
- Dense mineral powders
- Resin pellets
- Industrial salts
- Pigments
- Additives
- Heavy chemical compounds
By utilizing properly engineered hazardous-duty packaging, facilities can reduce operational disruptions while improving worker safety and environmental containment.
Eliminating Liner Pull-Out & Product Contamination
One of the most overlooked problems in bulk chemical packaging occurs during discharge. Loose liners can collapse into the hopper, creating contamination risks and causing costly downtime for production equipment.
To solve this issue, Material Motion engineers tabbed, glued, or sewn liners that remain attached to the outer packaging during discharge. This helps improve complete product evacuation, reduce equipment blockages, increase production efficiency, and eliminate foreign material contamination
Secure liner attachments are especially valuable in automated processing environments where consistency and cleanliness are critical.
